Description: Tan, brown, or olive green base color with irregular black spots on the dorsal. The eyes are upturned. The rear legs are relatively short with heavily webbed feet. A light-colored stripe is typically present along the upper lip. The underside is cream-colored but can be a bright yellow or orange in adults; especially on the underside of the legs. 

Call: A series of low knocks that sound like tapping on a hollow log. Usually lasting 2 to 5 seconds.  

Size: A medium-sized frog averaging 3 to 4 inches in length. 

Range and Habitat: This frog occurs in isolated populations in Western Utah, along the Wasatch Front, and Uinta Mountains. It inhabits ponds, springs, and marshes with heavy vegetation in Great Basin desertscrub and montane habitat. It can be found up to 10,000 feet in elevation.   

Similar Species: This frog is not easily confused with any other species in Utah.
