Description: Tan, gray, olive, or cream base color with red spots across the dorsal. These spots can occasionally be faintly colored. The head is angular and flattened. The cranial crests are small and poorly defined. The parotoid glands are small and rounded. 

Call: A fast high pitched trill lasting up to 10 seconds. The vocal sac is round. 

Size: A small-sized toad averaging 2 to 3 inches in length. 

Range and Habitat: This toad occurs through most of the Colorado Plateau and west through Southern Washington County. It inhabits a variety of permanent and temporary water sources including streams, ponds, and springs within desertscrub and semidesert grassland habitat. It can be found below 6,000 feet in elevation.  

Similar Species: This toad is not easily confused with any other species in Utah.
