Description: This snake has smooth, shiny scales and is cylindrical in shape. It is pink or tan in color and often has a silvery sheen. The vestigial eyes appear as black dots. It has a spine on the tip of its tail. This snake is rarely seen due to its fossorial nature. 

Size: A very small species averaging only 6 to 8 inches in length. 

Range and Habitat: This snake is known from the Mojave Desert Region of Southern Washington County where it inhabits areas of sandy or loose soils. It can be found below 4,000 feet in elevation. 

Similar Species: This distinctive snake is not easily confused with any other species in Utah.
